Once my life was calm as still water

Days only filled with indifference and torpor

But then you showed up

And turned my life upside down

Turning up in November – the time I felt the most vulnerable

You came like a raging super typhoon

With a rapid-fire wind speed exceeding expectations

Thinking back, I can’t stop you from hurting me

You are more than meets the eye

Little did I know, you seem more like an eye wall

Beneath your impeccable façade lies a fearsome being

Dangerous, devious and deadly – that’s you

I underestimated your ability of being so unpredictable

Aye, unpredictable as a storm surge

Off and on your feelings change but mind you

Though I’m such a big mess, I have loved you undeniably

Why did it end up like this – I keep on asking

Was it because of the pressure of wanting you to be my perfect man?

Or was it simply because you already found someone better?

Perhaps our timing wasn’t so good at all

What a bad move it was conveying my feelings to you

I started crying, tears streamed down on my face

Damped air surrounded the both of us, perplexed I was

You growled like a thunderstorm

You shouted at me like there’s no tomorrow

And as I listened to your angry protests

It was as if lightning is piercing through my skin

Thunder followed as you told me to leave

I don’t want to leave you yet you became so cold towards me

Like hail that falls in showers during a violent storm

I could only feel sadness, pain and sorrow engulfing my whole body

In a way tornadoes lambast and destruct anything on its path

It was never too late, epiphany struck me

It was time to take a rest, free myself of negativities and leave you

But truth be told it was hard to let go of all the memories we created,

Of all the things we shared and the love that we had

Indeed you really took a toll on my entire existence

For a time my world only revolved around you but now I know better

My life is now at its finest, a better me is coming
