As the warmth of the sun found solace in those cold arms of the sea, we sat there at the beach observing the sky that appeared to be a canvas of bright shades coruscating like its the most beautiful painting one can ever see. Deb next to me , just like the exact way we were back in the celerity of time. He leaned on his head backwards as he stood up and extended his hand towards me,
"What?" I asked back looking baffled
"Lets find some coffee flavoured stories here too" he smiled
I stood up smiling back.
"They wont be here because there is no coffee around" i said
"Gosh Kritika, I was joking, I meant lets find some stories of us together this time. In this moment itself" he smiled again
"Sure"
We walked together by the sea shore. The waves washing off our feet from time to time as we walked together. I was losing myself in his trance as we covered a distant over there. He spoke about all those stories he goes through in London while I told him about all my stories of Mumbai and its people.
"Coffee again? Or ice cream instead?" He asked as we were returning back by the highway
"Umm..I guess ice cream" I smiled.
In no time he was back with two ice cream cones. We headed towards the abandoned road. Seated over the roof of the car we sat there gazing those million stars, having our own treat of ice cream.
"Kritika...how was that person who made you sit and bleed words every Thursday at that corner table of that cafe?" He asked , striking a sensitive cord
I paused, he was still waiting for an answer while I lacked my own words for the first time to put that very person in words that could mean something
"Kritika" he called out again
"Uhm Deb life was perfect with him since I met him. It was like I was the queen to his world but little did I know I was just a bird that he had trapped in his periphery" I said
He listened to me attentively. Not blinking the eye even for a moment, not caring about anything he payed an attentive ear to me
"Raghav was so different from everyone. He seemed someone who was calm and serene. We met at that coffee shop for the first time while I was out there with my friends. "
"I'm listening what's next?"
I paused again. Repeating this caffeinated story was something that I didn't intend to, but I knew Deb left no choice for me. Debraj Roy was always this adamant.
"We met there often. Black forest pastry, chocolate chipped cookies and that latte they became my favorite too once I dissipated in his love leaving no trace of myself"
He paused,
"You mean you lost your own self just to be engaged with someone you felt like your forever??"
I paused. His eyes questioned me and I didn't have an answer to any of his queries..
