An Endless Story 16

                       Chapter 16: Halt Monster!

(First person perspective: Still Caldrien)

Ms. Lanvelpa rushed off to the scene...

All I can see was the smoke in the endless inferno. I run down the steps, passed the garden to the fence. I hold the fence tightly, nervous for Ms. Lanvelpa. All I hear is the crackling fire. As I try to see the action, I hear a loud, hideous roar followed by another large explosion.

Then all of a sudden, Fred, the peppy guy who gave me the free water, comes running out of the blurry mess, yelling;

"My shop is on fire!!! My shop is on fire!!! Help!!!"

He runs towards me and holds onto the gate of the fence.

"Hey kid," He says.

His colorful apron is scorched and dirty.

"Tell the guards in the Academy we have a problem at the Town Square."

His voice was desperate and there was a craze in his eyes, completely different from before.

"O-ok," I say, not even knowing who those people are.
But then multiple, what I suppose to be guards holding metal staffs, rush out of the door of The Hall of Heroes Academy. Their long brown robes wave behind them as they run, their black clothes under their robe. They all rush out the front gate, pushing Fred aside. Fred follows them with a sigh of relief.

I follow them too.

We all run through the smokes, the guards move in a uniform fashion, parallel to the chaos of people running in every direction.

Through the smoke I see a shadow, a figure, I squint...
It's Ms. Lanvelpa.

"Hey," I yell, "Ms.Lanve-," I feel a strong tug and I'm forced to the ground. I look around quickly, ready to fight. But then I see that it was Fred, panicking.

"No matter what ya do..., don't break her concentration, ... she and the them guards are our only hope of capturing...that,... th-that beast," He says, coughing at random intervals, swiftly pointing to something in front of Ms.Lanvelpa. I look.

Through the smoke, I see hell. A huge beast emerges as if from nightmares themselves.
Its huge silver horns run down its spine and pertrude from each side of his head all the way to its chin, almost like a beard. Its whole being is pitch black, it destroys each building with a swift claw, like a void that sucks in everything. Its thin red eyes stare Ms. Lanvelpa down, she does the same. The beast almost seems unstable, like its body zaps out of itself occasionally...
